Milton Keynes is derided by many as city of roundabouts, a curious one, concrete cows’ grazing field etc. But the city offers a lot more than its roundabouts. It has some nice parks all around. And in many of the parks, many of which offer free parking (something not to be scoffed at!), one can find ancient ruins.
One such one can be found in Stantonbury. It’s the ruins of St. Peter’s Church. The church dates back to the 1100s and has a rather comical history.

People for a long time were getting married in the church but then, it was discovered that the church was not authorised for marriage ceremonies. What it meant was that all marriages held there were null and void!

It took an Act of Parliament to legalise all the marriages held there.
